ISO 14001 2015 is an environmental management standard that defines the environmental policy of an organization. This standard helps organizations to protect the environment, check pollution, and improve their overall environmental performance. ISO 14001 is a useful tool for an organization to step up from just maintaining regulatory compliance to an organization with improved productivity and enhanced competitive advantage.
ISO 14001:2015 is applicable to any business that wishes to establish, implement, maintain and improve an environmental management system and conform to its stated environmental policy.
ISO 14001:2015 is the perfect certification for companies seeking an internationally recognized environmental management system. This certification can help companies create a structure for managing environmental operations. ISO 14001:2015 is applicable to all types and sizes of manufacturing and service operations throughout the world.
ISO 14001:2015 specifies environmental requirements that the organization identifies as those which it can control and influence. It does not itself state specific environmental performance criteria. ISO 14001 is flexible - it is as applicable to both the small business and the multinational organization.
The extent of the application depends on factors like the environmental policy of the organization, the nature of its activities, products and services, the location and the conditions in which the company functions.

The ISO 27001 standard was published in October 2005, essentially replacing the old BS7799-2 standard. It is the specification for an ISMS, an Information Security Management System. BS7799 itself was a long standing standard, first published in the nineties as a code of practice. As this matured, a second part emerged to cover management systems. It is this against which certification is granted. Today in excess of a thousand certificates are in place, across the world.
The objective of the standard itself is to "provide a model for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining, and improving an Information Security Management System". Regarding its adoption, this should be a strategic decision. Further, "The design and implementation of an organization's ISMS is influenced by their needs and objectives, security requirements, the process employed and the size and structure of the organization".

The foundation for any climate action starts with calculation: a company with a PPM understands which parts of their business are creating the greatest emissions (Main carbon creation process). If these emissions are offset the company can credibly claim carbon neutrality.
In addition, having a carbon footprint makes it possible to understand the areas with the greatest potential for avoidance and reduction, to develop and implement appropriate reduction measures, and to set reduction targets. Annual PPM reports allow companies to check their progress against reduction targets and to identify new hotspots that drive further reduction measures.
Principles In preparing the Carbon Footprint, five basic principles were observed in accordance with the GHG Protocol.
Relevance: The calculation should account for all greenhouse gas emissions that are material to the company's carbon footprint. This report is designed to support internal and external decision-making.
Completeness: The report must include all GHG emissions within the selected system boundaries. If any data is excluded, we will document and justify its exclusion.
Consistency: In order to allow a company's footprint to be compared over time, we will use consistent methodologies.
Transparency: All material activities of a company will be recorded and any assumptions, data gaps and resulting extrapolations or data exclusions will be presented clearly and openly in this report.
Accuracy: We aim for this report to be sufficiently accurate so that it gives the reader confidence that they have useful data that will enable them to make good decisions. We aim to calculate footprints that are neither to high nor too low and use approaches that minimize uncertainties.
Climate action strategy: Interactive workshops and easy-to-digest resources to engage your senior leadership team as they develop a strategy and tactics to accelerate your company’s impact. These are extremely helpful for those who are at the beginning of their sustainability journey.
Science Based Targets: From introductory workshops to tailored, end-to-end support for setting and validating science-based targets directly with the Science Based Targets Initiative, we can help your internal stakeholdersmake sense of any complex information. With the help of scenario analysis tools and our industry experts, we will ensure your targets are credible and ambitious.
Net Zero roadmaps: Through easy-to-use tools and workshops, we support clients in designing net zero roadmaps that stand-up to external scrutiny. We align with the Net Zero Standard developed by the Science Based Targets Initiative and have built resources for SMEs, too.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a world’s oldest and largest forest certification system with millions of hectares of certified forest globally. FSC certification is voluntary, market-based system in which forests, companies anyway associated to timber / paper related products are audited against principles and criteria. The performance-based standards encompass environmental, social and economic values, and are framed to ensure that the forests are managed sustainably.
FSC ensures traceability of products from the forests to the end point of sale. Products that are manufactured from responsibly harvested forests are identified with the FSC logo, which is considered the “one of the best standard” of forest certification by major environmental groups.
Forest management certification is an independent assessment that ensures your forest management practices are in compliance with the internationally recognized standards of the FSC.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a globally recognized certification system with million hectares of forestland certified under its forest conservation standards. FSC uses a voluntary, market-based system in which forests, companies anyway associated to timber related products are audited against principles and criteria of FSC. The performance-based standards encompass environmental, social and economic values, and are framed to ensure that the forests are managed sustainably.
Two types of FSC Certifications?
The business owners depending on their operations and product can avail certifications to establish stewardship.
The FSC provides certificates like: Forest Management (FM) and Chain of Custody (CoC).
The PEFC programme, short for “Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification”, is the world's largest label for sustainable forest management. PEFC works to protect and conserve forests by recognizing existing sustainable forest management systems. Companies in the supply chain can prove that their PEFC certified products contribute to this objective through a so-called "Chain of Custody certificate". Also demonstrate to customers that they are committed to support a sustainable forest management? Then you should opt for PEFC certification.
With a PEFC certificate, your company becomes part of the chain of custody. All companies along the entire supply chain from the forest to the consumer ensure the traceability of PEFC certified products. That way, you can guarantee to your clients that your certified wood and paper products come from sustainably managed forests.
A growing number of companies in the supply chain are PEFC certified. These are companies all along the chain from a wide range of sectors, including the wood and paper processing industry, importers, wholesalers, retailers, the construction sector and the graphic arts industry.
There are three types of PEFC certification to choose from: group certification, individual certification and multi- site certification. Many companies are eligible for our group certification as they meet the relevant eligibility criteria. Wondering which form of certification best suits your company?
What is PEFC Certification?
The forest ecosystem is high complex, and evolves constantly. Forest in every country or geographic distribution is influenced by various factors. Hence, each region would require a different and a unique sustainable forest management plan or strategy.
- Encourages local or national certification systems to be developed independently.
- These local or national certification system could come together in PEFC.
- To be a part of PEFC, companies are required to prove compliance with the PEFC’s Sustainability Benchmarks, principles, guidelines and criteria.
What are the different types of PEFC Certifications available?
PEFC Forest Management: The global statistics of PEFC Certified forests reveal, Canada as the leading country in terms of certified forest area, followed by USA, Finland, Sweden, Australia and so on.
PEFC Chain of Custody: The PEFC CoC certification started with 59 certificates in the year 2001 and stands at more than 10,000 CoC certificates in the year 2015. France was the leading company with most number of certificates, followed by Germany, UK, Spain, and Italy and so on.
